To have good manners in the west means not to put elbows on the table or slurp when eating. Just like in having good manners on the table when eating is very important. In China eating with good manners mean never leaving a chopstick in its bowl upright as the image of this reminds the Chinese people of a tomb stone and death. Eating in a nice way means not to hit your chopsticks on the bowl like beggars do.
