The Red Guards

Imagine being caught up in monumental historical events, god worshipping your country's leader while missing out on a proper education? If you were a communist red guard then this probably occurred to you. Young people in China; probably the same age as you, were known as Red Guards and they came to the fore during the Cultural Revolution with the Little Red book of quotations as their guide. During this time, people in authority (I.E: teachers) or who were seen as bourgeois were often victimized by large groups of Red guards swarming across the country. In this period, young Chinese Red guards between the ages of 15 and 25 neglected their studies during these ten years of turmoil, they are often known as the 'Lost Generation'.
